Intuitive Eating
What is intuitive eating? ‘Intuitive Eating’ is a phrase made famous by authors Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch. They devised an eating approach that they claim is not a diet, but a recovery from diets. There can be no doubt that maintaining a healthy body weight today is a continuing daily challenge for most people in western societies. Food has never been more abundant or available. A massive food processing industry exists, which combines low-nutrient, high-energy (fattening) ingredients with other ingredients – natural and artificial – that our taste buds find almost irresistible. These same companies and their distributors spend fortunes on advertising to keep these products at the forefront of our thinking. Because of this, a ‘diet industry’ has emerged. While many of these proponents may have honorable intentions, the fact remains that for most people ‘dieting’ is very much an on-again, off-again approach to their relationship with food. Although dieting may be considered a necessary evil, it has been the cause of a great deal of harm to individuals. It has caused many eating disorders, damaged physical health, and caused mental health problems that stay with people for life. Understood and properly applied, intuitive eating can be liberating and lifechanging. This eBook will help you understand the aims, precepts, benefits and limits of this approach to eating, and help you decide if it can help you.
If the excesses of modern living did not exist, health protocols such as intuitive eating would be unnecessary. But they do, and we feel forced to battle with them constantly. • Intuitive eating is not a diet, but a recovery from diets and the dieting mentality. • Intuitive eating does not ban any food or food types. The Ten Principles of Intuitive Eating teach you to: • Reject The Diet Mentality • Honor Your Hunger • Make Peace With Food • Challenge The Food Police – The Internal and External Voices • Discover The Satisfaction Factor • Feel Your Fullness • Cope With Your Emotions • Respect Your Body • Move Your Body and Feel The Difference • Honor Your Health With Gentle Nutrition Healthier approaches to food, nutrition, exercise and body perception gained from eating intuitively have allowed many people to achieve and maintain the weight that they should be. ‘Intuitive Eating’ will help you understand what eating intuitively means, and how it works to restore a healthy relationship with the food that you eat.
